Broke my wheel knuckle at Pasir Gudang :-(

I was on my last lap at Pasir Gudang last Monday 6th Oct when I heard a sudden grinding noise. Initially I thought my engine had blown.. I checked my oil pressure, oil temp, exhaust temp and water temp but everything seemed ok.

After I drove into the pit, I saw that my brake calipers was misaligned with the rotors. I thought that my brakes had overheated at first but when I drove to Ah Siang's workshop Boostzone Motorsports. He told me that the bearings in my wheel knuckle had given way. :-(

See the pictures below:

They couldn't get any second hand parts in JB. Not wanting to spend RM650 to tow my car back to Singapore, Ah Siang ordered a brand new part from Singapore for S$585. Ah Boon had quoted me about $350 for second hand part.

My car spent the night at Ah Siang's workshop.. I missed my car.. luckily he got everything in order the next day by 4pm and even sent my car for alignment and a wash. He's (Ah Siang) someone I can rely on for any issues!

More advanced timing #10

The last round has knock :-(

So here's what I am going to do:

I increase the range below by 1.0 x 1

Then increase the range below by 0.2 x 4:

Then the range below by 1.0 X 1 and 0.2 x 1:

And the range below by 1.0 X 3 and then 0.2 x 2:

Reduce the cell below by 1.0 x 1 to smoothen the map:

Reduce the cell below by 1.0 x 1 to smoothen the map:

I name this rom as 20081006_advance.hex.

I'm going to the track today so I am going to flash the rom 20080916_advance.hex first during the track session and use the latest one when I am driving back.

Hopefully all goes well for today's track session at Pasir Gudang.

More advanced timing #9

With the last round of changes, I had one knock of -2.11 at load:0.57 and rpm:2163.

But after that, no more knock. I'm going to monitor and see if it was really a knock incident or some engine noise.

More advanced timing #9

With the last round of changes, I still have knock in the same range 0.55-0.85 load, around 2500rpm.

So I've decided to leave that range out (using 20080916_advance.hex as the base):

I increase the range below by 1.0 x 2

Then increase the range below by 0.2 x 2:

Then the range below by 1.0 X 1 and 0.2 x 1:

And the range below by 1.0 X 3 and then 0.2 x 2:

Reduce the cell below by 1.0 x 1 to smoothen the map:

Reduce the cell below by 0.2 x 2 to smoothen the map:

I name this rom as 20081004_advance.hex

More advanced timing #8

For my last round of changes, I got knocked!!! Here's the results:

So what I am gonna do in the following (using 20080916_advance.hex as the base):

I increase the range below by 1.0 x 2

Then increase the range below by 0.2 x 2:

Then the range below by 1.0 X 1 and then 0.2 x 2:

And the range below by 1.0 X 3 and then 0.2 x 2:

Reduce the cell below by 1.0 x 1 and 0.2 x 1 to smoothen the map:

Reduce the cell below 0.2 x 1 to smoothen the map:

Reduce the cell below 0.2 x 3 to smoothen the map:

Let's see if this has knock. This rom is labelled as 20081003_advance.hex

More advanced timing #7

The last round of changes went very well, hardly any knock. Inspired, here's my next round of increments, using 20080916_advance.hex as the base.

I increase the range below by 1.0 x 2 and then 0.2 x 2:

Then the range below by 1.0 X 1 and then 0.2 x 2:

And the range below by 1.0 X 3 and then 0.2 x 2:

Reduce the cell below by 0.2 x 7 to smoothen the map:

I name this rom as: 20081002_advance.hex I hope this goes well.
